What is the measurement accuracy of the colorimeter
The measurement accuracy of a colorimeter refers to the comprehensive ability of the instrument in terms of repeatability, stability, consistency, correctness, resolution, environmental anti-interference, traceability, etc. It directly determines whether the color data is reliable, comparable, and traceable, and is the core indicator of industrial color quality control.

1、 Repeatability
Definition: The degree of dispersion of the results obtained from multiple consecutive measurements of the same sample using the same instrument, under the same conditions, and at the same point, expressed as Δ E * ab, with lower values indicating higher accuracy.
Laboratory level: Δ E * ab ≤ 0.005-0.02 (30 measurements)
Industrial precision grade: Δ E * ab ≤ 0.02~0.03
General industrial grade: Δ E * ab ≤ 0.04~0.08
Performance significance: The smaller the value, the better the stability of the instrument's light source, optical path, and sensor, and even small color differences can be detected stably.
2、 Inter station difference
Definition: The deviation of the same sample measured by different instruments under the same conditions, also known as "instrument consistency", is measured by Δ E ab.
Better models: ≤ 0.08~0.2 Δ E * ab
Industrial grade: ≤ 0.2~0.35 Δ E * ab
Normal level: ≤ 0.3~0.5 Δ E * ab
Performance significance: Ensure unified data across workshops, production lines, and suppliers, avoiding "one machine, one quantity, and no standard communication".
3、 Measurement accuracy
Definition: The deviation between the measured value and the standard true value reflects the accuracy of instrument calibration and the level of optical path calibration.
Performance: Traceable to CIE standard light source, standard observer, standard color palette, in compliance with international and domestic standards such as GB/T 3978, ISO 7724, ASTM E1164, etc.
Result: Lab, LCh, XYZ, Yxy and other chromaticity parameters can be measured, and even small color differences (such as Δ E<0.5) can be accurately quantified.
4、 Spectral resolution and data accuracy
Spectral colorimeter: with a spectral interval of 10nm or 5nm, covering the entire visible light spectrum of 400-700nm, it can output the reflectivity of each wavelength and distinguish between colors that are not visible to the human eye but have different spectra.
Display accuracy: L/a/b display up to 0.01, Δ E display up to 0.01, capable of capturing subtle color differences that the human eye cannot distinguish.
5、 Optical Structure and Measurement Geometric Accuracy
D/8 ° integrating sphere (SCI/SCE): diffuse illumination, 8 ° reception, optional with/without specular reflection, suitable for coatings, plastics, textiles, curved surfaces, high reflective samples, measurement results are more stable and closer to the true color of the object.
45 °/0 °: Simulate human eye observation, suitable for printing, paper, and flat highlight samples, reducing environmental light interference.
Caliber: 3mm/5mm/10mm/20mm optional, small caliber for measuring small areas, large caliber for measuring texture/powder, to avoid missing or detecting background.
6、 Stability and ability to resist environmental interference
Light source stability: Using long-life, low attenuation LED/xenon lamps, coupled with dual light path real-time calibration, to offset voltage fluctuations and light source aging effects, with minimal long-term drift.
Temperature/humidity adaptability: Maintain accuracy even in environments of 0-40 ℃ and 85% RH humidity, suitable for complex working conditions such as workshops, outdoors, and humid areas.
Anti stray light design: high reflective coating on the inner wall of the integrating sphere, light shielding structure, reduces environmental light interference, and measurement repeatability is not affected by external light.
7、 Calibration capability and data traceability
Built in+standard board dual calibration: automatic baseline calibration upon startup, paired with original factory level standard whiteboard/black tube calibration, eliminates optical path and sensor drift, and data can be traced back to the metrology institute.
Long term calibration stability: Long calibration cycle, small drift, reducing frequent calibration, and consistent accuracy for long-term use.
8、 Adaptation of Color Space and Light Source
Supports multiple color spaces such as CIE Lab, LCh, XYZ, Yxy, HunterLab, sRGB, CMYK, etc., meeting different industry standards.
Built in 30+standard light sources including D65, A, C, D50, F2, F7, TL84, U35, etc., can simulate color performance in different environments and match customer visual conditions.
9、 Small color difference recognition ability
The human eye can generally only distinguish color differences with Δ E>1.0; The high-precision colorimeter can stably identify small differences with Δ E<0.1 or even Δ E<0.02, detect color fluctuations that are imperceptible to the human eye in advance, and prevent batch defects.
